Indian cricket team’s star right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah was a force to reckon with in the recently concluded T20I series against Ireland. Jasprit Bumrah took 4 scalps and bowled impeccable lines & lengths and it didn’t look as if he was making a comeback to the international arena after almost a year.

Head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma would be considering using Bumrah in short & effective spells. We all have witnessed how lethal Jasprit Bumrah can be during the death-over phase. He along with Shardul Thakur can fox the batters with their variations as the duo has a lethal bowling action with immaculate lines & lengths.

Jasprit Bumrah bowled at 140 km/hr and bowled in the death overs- Sanjay Manjrekar

Sanjay Manjrekar was seen interacting with Star Sports and was quite impressed with Jasprit Bumrah’s return to International cricket. Sanjay Manjrekar though stated that bowling 4 overs as compared to the ODI format is a different phenomenon and said that Bumrah looked better than the bowlers who were fit in the recently concluded T20I series.

“50-over cricket tests a player’s fitness the most. Bowling four overs in Ireland compared to bowling 10 overs within three hours is very different. Yes, you bowl a lot of overs in Tests, but there is a big gap between them,” said Sanjay Manjrekar.

“However, from what we have seen in Ireland, he bowled at 140 km/hr and bowled in the death overs. That showed me what value Jasprit Bumrah brings in because he looked better than the bowlers who were already fit,” he added.

Dangerous India’s bowling lineup

The trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj & Jasprit Bumrah can give sleepless nights to the opposition teams. At the same time, Rohit Sharma also has the services of Shardul Thakur who can contribute in all the 3 facets of the game. Shardul Thakur can also be used as a pinch hitter and has a knack for breaking crucial partnerships.

It would be interesting to see whether the lanky pacer Prasidh Krishna gets a game in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. It looks unlikely that Prasidh will get a game against the arch-rivals Pakistan on 2nd September which promises to be a cracker of a contest. India should not make the mistake of taking Pakistan lightly as the Babar Azam-led side whitewashed Afghanistan in the recently concluded ODI series.
