The BCCI has announced the squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, and Indian Captain Rohit Sharma will captain India’s pursuit of the much-awaited glory. Rohit Sharma said the team management was crystal clear about picking as many as four spinners for the T20 World Cup, asserting that the Indian Premier League (IPL) had little role in deciding the final 15.

As per Rohit Sharma’s announcement, India’s bowling lineup, which includes Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja, is heavy on spin. Jasprit Bumrah will spearhead the pace attack, backed by Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, and vice-captain Hardik Pandya. As the team’s player of choice, Rohit Sharma is meticulous about his planning and constantly looks to support teammates who get in his way.

According to Rohit Sharma, there was some influence from the IPL when choosing these four spinners. Yuzi Chahal, the seasoned spinner for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024, took 13 wickets, while Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav performed well for the Delhi Capitals. Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, will play as a senior and can also lead the department, as he is doing for Chennai Super Kings

Based on the options, we decide who to play- Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma made his opinions about the team and his point of view clear during yesterday’s conference. India selected four spinners in their 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, and Rohit Sharma explained why. When the competition gets closer, he will reveal his motivations. He added that he will not reveal anything now based on the conditions under which we decide who to play with.

“I don’t want to go into details on this. I definitely wanted four spinners. We have played a lot of cricket there. The match starts at 10 am in the morning. There is technical aspect involved in this,” said Rohit Sharma

The reason for picking four spinners is something I won’t reveal now. I definitely wanted our spinners. With two of them being all-rounders and two attacking options, it gives you balance. Based on opposition, we can decide who to play.” further added.
