ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 fixture between West Indies and USA hosts West Indies played spectacular cricket and didn’t give a chance of comeback to the USA. It was a must-win match for West Indies to improve their net run-rate and to open their account. The USA is almost on the verge of elimination.
USA dismantled in front of West Indies
West Indies had won the toss and opted to bowl first which turned out to be the nightmare for the USA. West Indies started dominating from the start and kept themselves in the driving seat. USA batters had no chance of a comeback and so they surrendered but Andries Gous played quite better than others he scored 29 runs while Nitish Kumar scored 20 runs. None of the batters scored runs so they failed to recover the innings and after all, they were able to score just 128 runs.
Roston Chase stole the show
West Indies showed their class with the bowl and so they rose to the occasion and had a great day with the bowl. Man with the golden arm Andre Russell picked 3 wickets while Alzarri Joseph picked 2 wickets but the most important player of the day was Roston Chase, he picked 3 wickets which included two consecutive wickets and missed a well-deserved hattrick. Roston Chase was the hero of the match.
Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran stole the show again
So the target was quite simple and easy to chase and the destructive batting line-up of West Indies put the USA in trouble. Johnson Charles lost his wicket quite early but it didn’t affect Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran they stole the show and showed their Caribbean power with the bat and finished the innings within 10.5 overs. Shai Hope made unbeaten 82 runs while Nicholas Pooran scored 27 runs within 12 balls. West Indies won the match by 9 wickets and it was a must-win match. Roston Chase was adjourned as Man Of the Match.
Flop day for USA
USA failed with the bat so with the bowl too. Just a single wicket from USA bowlers shows they weren’t prepared and so they failed to perform in the match. Saurabh Netravalkar too bowled an expensive spell. Harmeet Singh was the only bowler picked that only wicket rest others went too expensive.
