After India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory on Saturday, June 29 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, head coach Rahul Dravid urged star batsman Virat Kohli to go for the World Test Championship, the only trophy left in his collection. Notably, India won their second T20 World Cup Trophy by defeating South Africa by seven runs in the top match, ending their 11-year ICC Trophy drought.

After winning the Champions Trophy in 2013 and the ODI World Cup in 2011, this was Virat Kohli’s third ICC Trophy. Despite giving it his all for the team in each of the five T20 World Cups he had participated in, the 35-year-old had to wait 12 years to realize his dream of winning a trophy. The batting icon’s long wait was finally over as his crucial match-winning innings of 76 (59) laid the groundwork for India’s victory in the crucial game.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) released a unique video on its Instagram account after India’s historic victory, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the Men in Blue’s celebrations in the locker room. In the footage, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) Secretary Jay Shah and skipper Rohit Sharma can be seen going inside the changing room.

From that point on, each player alternates in taking pictures of themselves holding the prized trophy. The iconic picture has star batsman Virat Kohli smiling broadly and kissing the silverware in a posing pose. Following trophy photographs, Kohli is seen giving Dravid a “high-five,” indicating that the Indian player has a special message for him.

The India head coach encouraged the star batter to go for the only missing trophy in his cabinet i.e. the World Test Championship.

“All three white ticked off, one red to go, tick it,” Dravid can be heard saying to Kohli in the viral video.

Kohli nearly won the World Tennis Championship twice in 2021 and 2023, but sadly, India lost to Australia and New Zealand in the championship games of those two cycles. In the latter stages of his career, Kohli will now concentrate on ODIs and Tests after declaring his retirement from Twenty20 Internationals. He will be motivated to win the one trophy left in his cabinet.
