ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 England thrashed the USA and secured their berth in the semis. The USA ends their campaign after a successful tournament. England chased the target quite early. USA again failed to perform well.
USA demolished in front of England
The USA once again failed to perform with the bat and so they lost momentum as wickets were falling are regular intervals, no big partnerships were seen by them so they were helpless and were able to score just 115 and got all-out. Nitish Kumar and Corey Anderson scored 30 and 29 runs accordingly, skipper Aaron Jones failed yet once again and scored just 10 runs. USA found themselves low while batting this was their final match but couldn’t finish on a happy note.
Chris Jordan stole the show
England won the toss and opted to bowl which proved right and so the bowlers restricted well enough, Sam Curran and Adil Rashid picked 2 wickets while the hero of the match was Chris Jordan who proved why he is the best bowler in depth. He picked 4 wickets in an over and concluded with a hat trick and became another bowler to pick a hat trick in the T20 World Cup. This was the third hattrick of this season as Pat Cummins lonely picked 2 hattricks. In semis, England will be the most destructive team so they have a good chance to defend their title and so bowlers will rise to the occasion.
Jos Buttler wrapped up early
So, England was in the driving seat and needed just 116 runs which felt like England might chase down quite easily but Jos Buttler had different plans he finished the match within 9.4 overs and didn’t play even 10 overs they wrapped up the match. Finishing matches early is an art then England is the Picasso of it, this charisma was done by England many times in this World Cup so Jos Buttler didn’t waste any time and smashed boundaries and also scored an unbeaten 83 runs and Phil Salt scored just 25 runs and he too remain unbeaten. England won the match by 10 wickets yet once again. Adil Rashid was adjourned as Man Of the Match.
Another forgetful day for the USA
The USA failed with the bat so with the bowl too, just 116 runs on board looked like nothing so England took undue advantage of it, and keeping in mind the qualification they wrapped the innings very early. None of the bowlers could perform well so they failed once again and bid adieu to the tournament. USA had a spectacular tournament from playing for the first time to qualify for Super 8 is not an easy thing but they proved everyone wrong and gave a statement through their performance that we stay here and will live here for the long term.
