Team India’s dynamic batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, is presently out of action due to an injury. He sustained an ankle injury while fielding in the third T20I against South Africa in Johannesburg in December. Additionally, it was revealed that he had a sports hernia, and he underwent surgery for it in Munich, Germany.

On Wednesday, January 24, Suryakumar Yadav expressed gratitude to his fans for their continuous support during his challenging period through an Instagram story. He assured his followers that he would return to the field soon. SKY wrote,

Your immense love and support means the world to me and I promise to continue to work hard and be back on-field soon.”

Suryakumar Yadav led the Indian cricket team in the absence of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya during the three-match T20I series against South Africa. In the third T20I, he delivered a remarkable performance by scoring an unbeaten century, contributing significantly to India’s effort to level the series, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Suryakumar Yadav has established himself as a key player in India’s T20I squad, delivering impactful performances consistently. Notably, he holds the top spot in the ICC Rankings for T20I batters. In the previous year, Yadav showcased exceptional form with the bat, amassing 733 runs in 18 T20Is at an impressive strike rate of 155.95. He maintained an outstanding average of 48.86 in T20Is throughout the year.

As a testament to his outstanding performances, Suryakumar Yadav was awarded the ICC T20I Cricketer of the Year for 2023. This prestigious recognition came after he outshone other nominees, including Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe), Alpesh Ramjani (Uganda), and Mark Chapman (New Zealand).

The ICC’s T20I Team of the Year for 2023, led by Suryakumar Yadav, consists of outstanding players who have excelled in the shortest format of the game. The team members are expected to be among the top performers in T20Is.
