Former cricketer Saba Karim believes that captain Rohit Sharma is enjoying the challenges of playing England in test matches. Day 1 of the last Test match between India and England at Dharamsala has been dominated by India.

India, led by skipper Rohit Sharma, bowled England out for just 218 runs in the first innings of the game, capping a successful opening day. Throughout the first day of the test match, Rohit showed confidence. He also added a partnership of more than 100 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal, which furthered India’s dominance in the last Test match.

At the beginning of Day 2, former Indian cricketer Saba Karim praised the batsman and mentioned that Sharma is relishing the difficulties of the Test series. After the Men in Blue won three straight games in the five-match series, Rohit Sharma has already made sure that their impressive home winning streak will continue. The opening batsman has also made an impression by striking two hundreds, the first of which came in Rajkot in a precarious situation after a top-order collapse.

He’s someone who is enjoying the challenges – Saba Karim on Rohit Sharma

Despite facing pressure from the visiting England squad in all four Test matches, Rohit has skillfully orchestrated his team’s comeback, with players, particularly the newcomers, stepping up to the mark.

“You’ve seen that in Rajkot, the team was in a difficult situation and he came out with a 100. He’s someone who is enjoying the challenges. That is something as an experienced player, you thrive on these kinds of situations. Yesterday, that balance was there, he was in his elements that pull off the short ball to Wood is an indication of he’s doing well,” Saba Karim stated on Jio Cinema.

In the first innings of the fifth Test in Dharamshala, the Indian captain has made the most of his opening position. After reaching his 12th century in Test matches, the captain is eager to cause England even more grief in order to finish the match in spectacular fashion.

Super impressed with the way Rohit Sharma led the side – Nick Knight

A series draw before the final in Dharamshala may have been achieved in the wake of a close loss in Hyderabad and collapses in Rajkot and Ranchi.

But as was already mentioned, India has worked hard to sway the outcome in their favor. When he referred to the match against England at home as a “series of comebacks” in the pre-match news conference, Rohit Sharma brought attention to the same point.

Nick Knight, a former opening batsman for England, also complimented the Indian captain for his ability to guide his team to victory in spite of all the obstacles they have faced.

“I’ll start with Rohit. I won’t necessarily start with his batting because it kind of looks after itself for the moment. But I would want to pick out the leader in Rohit. Five debutants in the series, several senior players, not available for various reasons. That puts pressure on the captaincy,” Knight expressed.

“Put pressure on how you deal with your dressing room. It puts pressure on how you get the best out of those debutants, and all of that is a massive tick. I have been super impressed with the way he’s led the side with the side that was under pressure,” he added.
