ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Scotland dethroned Oman and knocked them out of the tournament and became the first team to get knocked out of the tournament.
Toss proved the result wrong
Oman won the toss and opted to bat first which turned out to be a nightmare for them despite registering a par score onboard. Antigua has a slow pitch which makes the wicket very dry so the bowl won’t come easily on the bat still Oman managed to score 150 runs, but the pitch gets easier in the second innings dew gets heavier on the ground.
Pratik and Ayaan saved Oman
Oman won the toss and elected to bat first which turned out to be a disaster for them, despite having a solid powerplay scoring 53 runs, later opener Pratik Athavale and Ayaan Khan saved Oman from scoring a low score in between skipper Aqib Ilyas’s quickfire too failed after losing his wicket, Pratik scored a half-century made possible to register 150 runs onboard.
Decent performance by Scotland bowlers
Scotland had a good day at the office with bowlers though they lost the toss but showed their consistency so they were up to the mark in bowling. Safyaan Sharif picked 2 wickets rest the bowlers picked one wicket accordingly. Scotland could have restricted Oman below 130 but Pratik and Ayaan showed some classy performances which took the total to 150 which was a below-par score yet Scotland bowled well, with no extraordinary moments or any economic spell, decent yet good performance.
Brandon McMullen finishes off for Scotland
So the target for Scotland was not huge as they needed just 151 runs to chase which was an easy job for them George Munsey once again started well so the powerplay went well for Scotland and so the job went easy. Later Brandon McMullen took charge and smashed a quick half-century in 31 balls which turned out to be a winning knock for Scotland and so they chased down the target within 13.1 overs. The cameo by skipper Richie Berrington was also good and in the end, Mathew Cross made it possible for Brandon to finish the match quite early. Brandon McMullen was adjourned as Player of the Match.
Flop bowling by Oman
Oman failed to defend the score of 150 so no other bowler could bowl a magical spell or could bring some suspense or thriller to make the match interesting. Scotland finished the match very early and so they won the match by 7 wickets Oman was the first team to get knocked out of the tournament as they were unable to register a single win against any team in their pool.
Both teams will play their last match as Scotland will face mighty Australia and Oman will face England.
