NED vs BAN: Scott Edwards And Van Meekeren Guided The Dutch To A Famous Win Over The Bangladeshi Tigers

Scott Edwards‘ 78 and Van Meekeren’s four wickets proved to be the difference as the Dutch won over the  Bangladeshi Tigers as they won by a huge margin of  87 runs. Skipper Scott Edwards‘ rotation of the bowlers is spot on and the wicket of ever-dependent Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim in single digits by Van Meekeren is the turning point of the game.

The Netherlands lost two early wickets after electing to bat first  Shoriful pitched it up and it was full and wide off and the batter succumbed to the bit. O’Dowd flashed at it and got an edge and Tanzid Hasan took a brilliant catch at first slip. This is not a good start for the Dutch! Max ODowd is gone for a duck  0(3)

Bangladesh got to a perfect start but let two catches slip through their fingers in quick succession. Mushfiqur and Litton are the guilty parties. They have picked up four wickets and they need to keep going.  Dutch Coming  in the last game the mental scars are visible in the batting line up  and Bangladesh does have one of the most potent attacks in the  tournament

The Netherlands have shown some intent to score quick runs but they are not able to get the ball away because of the slowness of the surface. They have gotten themselves into a situation for a good score

Scott Edwards departs for a brilliant 68 off 89 balls with 6 fours he also built up a vital partnership of 78 runs with Sybrand Engelbrecht.  Sybrand Engelbrecht scored a vital 35 runs off 61 balls with 3 fours van Beek too played a cameo by scoring 23  runs to guide them to a respective total of 229 in 50 overs. Every Bangladeshi bowler chipped in with 2 wickets except Miraz and Shakib finished with 1 for 37 in his 10 overs.

The Dutch got to a perfect start with the ball picking up two early wickets. Liton Das was the first batter who tried to reverse sweep a ball and got the edge which looped for Edwards to take a simple catch then it was Tanzid who tried to pull Van Beek but was undone by the extra bounce. Massive wickets for the Netherlands.

Shanto departed for 9 off 18 balls as  Van Meekeren bowled the sucker ball Shanto tried to guide it towards the third man but got the edge and the ball flew to the slip.

Shakib departed for 5  Van Meekeren delivered a short one which Shakib tried to cut but the ball hurried on to him and took a bit of extra bounce and the batter gloved it to the keeper. Meekeren picks up another wicket. The seamer rolled his fingers over and the ball and it jagged back in sharply. Mushfiqur Rahim trying to defend the ball could not predict how much it turn and bounce and got bowled for 1

Mahedi departs for 17 Finally, the partnership of 38 runs is broken. It was a brilliant piece of fielding from the Dutch. Mahedi tried to defend the ball and the ball got the edge and went towards the third man inside the ring. The fielder rushed to the ball and had the presence of mind to hit the non-strike end and the Mahedi who was trying to steal the single was a long way out of the crease as the ball hit the stumps directly.

Mahmudullah the lone batter departs for 20 off 41 balls with 2 fours  The Bangladesh batter tried to pull the ball on the leg side and could not get the placement right though he midled it. Aryan Dutt at mid-wicket takes a brilliant catch.

Van Meekeren is the pick of the bowlers with the figures of 4 for 23 in just 7.2 overs to guide Netherlands to the famous victory. Aryan Dutt finishes with the figures 1 for 26 in his 10 overs with 3 maidens. Van Beek picked up a vital wicket and finished with the figures of 1 for 30 in his 9 overs with 1 maiden.
