Pakistan’s premier fast bowler Mohammad Amir is hopeful for qualification in the Super 8s of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup in the USA & Caribbean.  After Pakistan’s win against Canada in their last match at Nassau County Mohammad Amir was hopeful of other results going there way in the upcoming fixtures.

After back-to-back losses against the USA & India, Pakistan finally managed to get a win against Canada beating them by seven wickets. Pakistan restricted Canada to 106-7 in their 20 overs and later went down to chase the target comfortably by chasing the target inside 18 overs.

Mohammad Rizwan played a match-winning knock of 53*(53) as he made sure Pakistan was over the line this time around. Mohammad Amir was named Player of the Match for his sensational figures of 2/13 in four overs.

Mohammad Amir On His Bowling Plans

In the post-match interview, Mohammad Amir discussed his bowling strategy and said that he simply wanted to hit the correct spots. Along with discussing his flawless inswinger that destroyed Dhaliwal’s stumps, Amir expressed optimism that Pakistan will advance to the following round. He said :

“As a bowler, you have to adapt to any conditions. I was just trying to hit the right areas, the conditions were demanding. As a professional you’ve to be clear in your role, I know I have to bowl with the new ball and at the death, I’m ready for anything. I bowled the away swinger for 3-4 deliveries, I then decided to swing it back in (on the dismissal of Dhaliwal). Much needed win, we’ve to win the next match and then who knows?,”

Mohammad Amir took his first wicket with a stunning delivery that broke right-hander Paudel’s middle stump, curving into him from a decent length. Throughout the current tournament, the southpaw has been in outstanding form, taking five wickets at an average of 12.20 and an economy of 5.08 from three games. In previous games against the USA and India, he bowled economical periods of 1/25 (4 overs) and 2/23 (4 overs), respectively.

Pakistan’s chances are now focused on the USA and India, since one of the teams must lose both of their remaining games in order for Pakistan to qualify, despite winning their opening match. The team captained by Babar Azam must also triumph in their last match, which takes place on Sunday, June 16 at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida, against Ireland.
