In the back half of the Asia Cup 2023, KL Rahul made his comeback into the side and turned with a bang as he scored an eye-pleasing ton against Pakistan while batting at number four for India. KL Rahul played at that number in the other matches and scored some runs, because of his brilliance at number four, Harbhajan Singh reckons he should play in the same position against Australia.
Since his return from injury, he has been in sublime form while playing in the middle for Team India. In the Asia Cup 2023, he played very crucial innings when needed the most from him. We should not forget that KL Rahul played key role in the series victory against Australia which India won by 2-1.
The management has got happy headaches as the likes of Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul & Shreyas Iyer, all have performed exceedingly well. It looks unlikely that Ishan Kishan would hold onto his place, as Shreyas Iyer is someone who can take the team out of muddle and play a significant knock for the team.
I do not want KL Rahul’s position at No.4 to be pushed down- Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh was seen speaking on his You Tube channel he expressed that he doesn’t want to change Kl Rahul’s position in the batting order. Harbhajan Singh also spoke about Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar as one of them is set to replace the injured Axar Patel for the marquee ODI WC 2023
“I hope Shreyas Iyer does well batting at number three. We cannot force him to bat anywhere below that. KL Rahul has been fantastic at number four, and I do not want his position to be pushed down. India should not send him at 5 to give Shreyas Iyer or Suryakumar Yadav a chance. However, KL can choose to bat at No. 3, and Shreyas can be at No. 4 as well.”
“Team India will have to make a choice between Washington Sundar and Ravichandran Ashwin. I feel Sundar will get the chance because he was also called to Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2023 finals. He didn’t get much to do in that game. So, I think he should be India’s No. 8 in the first ODI against the Aussies,” he added.
