Justin Langer, the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has confirmed that Mayank Yadav will be unavailable for the team’s upcoming matches against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 12 and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 14. Mayank Yadav made a stunning IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their match against Punjab Kings. The 21-year-old pacer impressed everyone by clocking a delivery at 155.8 km/h and went on to deliver a match-winning spell, taking 3 wickets for 27 runs. His outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

That’s the plan- Justin Langer believes Mayank Yadav will be fit for the Clash against CSK

Mayank Yadav retained his place in Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) playing XI for their next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He outdid his previous performance by taking 3 wickets for just 14 runs in his spell, earning him consecutive Player of the Match awards. In a press conference on Thursday, April 10, ahead of Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) upcoming encounter against Delhi Capitals (DC), head coach Justin Langer revealed that Mayank Yadav sustained a minor injury during his previous match against Gujarat Titans (GT). As a result, Mayank is “unlikely” to feature in LSG’s next two games. He said,

That’s the plan (to have Mayank fit for the CSK clash on April 19). We want him to play every game if possible. But he’ll be working towards it; he’s working very hard every day to be ready for whatever our next game is. He won’t play tomorrow; it’s unlikely… with the very short turnaround, it’s unlikely that he will play these two games. But he’s certainly working towards playing whenever he possibly can.”

After their game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the Lucknow-based franchise, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), will travel back home to host defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 19. It’s worth noting that LSG and CSK will play two games back-to-back this season, with LSG flying to Chennai after their home match against CSK on April 23.

Very hopeful he’ll start building himself up and be back bowling again soon- Justin Langer on Mayank Yadav

Justin Langer expressed hope that Mayank Yadav would recover in time and return to action soon for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). LSG is set to play two games in the next three days, hosting Delhi Capitals (DC) at home before traveling to Kolkata for their match at Eden Gardens.

He felt a little bit of tightness at the top of his hip leading into the last game, but that was about a one-out-of-ten pain, and we thought that there were clinical signs. Everything through the doctors and the physios seemed perfectly okay. He bowled that first over [against Titans] and started feeling something in his hip.”

“But we had an MRI scan, and there is a very, very small swelling in there. So we are very hopeful he’ll start building himself up and be back bowling again soon.”

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are currently in third place in the IPL 2024 points table, having accumulated six points from three wins and a loss.
