Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant surrendered their loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Garden on Monday in this IPL 2024. The KKR ceased their (DC) run-chase to 153 and pulled 9 wickets in 20 overs. All the votes of thanks go to Varun Chakravarthy for his immense performance last night against Delhi Capitals (DC). Varun Chakravarthy pulled 3 wickets providing only 16 runs in four overs. And KKR opener Phil Salt bagged a brilliant 68-run innings.

DC skipper Rishabh Pant chose to bat first after winning the toss but was losing wickets over regular intervals. But Kuldeep Yadav’s undisputed 35-run helped DC to chase the 150-mark milestone in addition to Rishabh Pant’s 27-runs.

We didn’t bat well- Rishabh Pant

Accepting their defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rishabh Pant opted that his team didn’t perform well, both from their batting and balling perspective.

“It was a good option to bat first. But, as a batting unit, we didn’t bat well, 150 was below par with how things were going,” the 26-year-old mentioned.

He mentioned that if they (DC) could have added more 30 or 40 runs, it would have helped them to put up a fight against KKR in the second innings.

“I think anything around 180-210 would have been a good score, we didn’t give our bowlers enough runs to defend,” he clarified.

Moreover, Pant justified that the Delhi Capitals will take their lessons following their defeat and will implement what they have learned in their next game. “But we learn from our mistakes, every day is not your day,” Pant said.

Even though Delhi Capitals were in better form, winning four out of five previous fixtures to accumulate 8 points, they could not find their momentum in the game at the Eden Garden.

Pant shared his perspective on how they were getting along well as a team and games like this are unavoidable parts of this short game format. “The way we were going as a team was nice but these games come along in T20s,” Pant concluded.
