IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians (MI) Demolished Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) & Took Revenge

On Monday Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns at Wankhede. Mumbai Indians have been knocked out of the tournament and will try to play for their reputation and their fans. Mumbai Indians showed their original avatar yesterday against Sunrisers Hyderabad for which they are known.

Mumbai Indians  (MI) won the match by 7 wickets and demolished the dream for playoffs of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sunrisers Hyderabad had scored 173 runs onboard, and Mumbai Indians chased down it in 17.2. Suryakumar Yadav scored a century and was also adjourned as player of the match.

Stunning powerplay by Sunrisers Hyderabad

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first which felt decision that went against him, Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma gave a steady yet good start in the initial overs after facing some balls Travis Head started firing with boundaries since he took time after knowing the pitch.

Debutant Anshul Kamboj bowled a brilliant yorker to Travis Head and unrooted the stumps, but a blessing in disguise for Travis Head it appeared to be a no-ball and he smashed a boundary after that bowl. Anshul got tense and was given plenty of runs in that over, in the end, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 56 runs losing Abhishek Sharma’s wicket. Bumrah dropped the first blood in the powerplay.

Mumbai Indians shine with bowling

Mumbai Indians showed their class in bowling after a good start by Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians suddenly took charge in bowling debutant Anshul was hammered by Travis Head in the powerplay giving yet another chance for a wicket but luck supported him, Mayank Agarwal who played after a long time didn’t get any luck and Anshul bowled out Mayank and picked his wicket of IPL.

Season campaigner Piyush Chawla handed them over a bit late but proved why he is an experienced bowler, within the first over Chawla took the wicket of monstrous Travis Head which was the turning point, and picked overall 3 wickets in his spell. Skipper Hardik Pandya also showed his class he bowled 4 overs and scalped 3 wickets which was also a positive sign for the Indian team ahead of the World Cup. Overall Sunrisers Hyderabad was losing wickets at regular intervals and was able to score just 173 runs onboard, skipper Pat Cummins played a cameo innings with the bat and scored 32 runs in 17 balls.

Suryakumar Yadav awestruck Sunrisers Hyderabad

Mumbai Indians needed to chase 174 runs and openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave a steady start compared to the last matches but couldn’t convert into a big partnership as such, Ishan and Rohit both lost their wickets again in powerplay fans would be thinking would it be recalled like last match when they lost against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) while chasing 170.

Powerplay was not good yet scored 52 runs but lost 3 wickets. Southpaw batsmen Tilak Varma and ace batsmen Surya Kumar Yadav kept the chase alive and made the chase possible both had a solid partnership of 143 runs in which Tilak Varma scored just 37 runs and Surya Kumar Yadav scored a century, his second in the IPL and gave fans to celebrate this moment and cherished the day with such promising innings. Later he was adjourned as player of the match.
