Gautam Gambhir along with head coach Chandrakant Pandit have made sure that there is a healthy atmosphere in the dressing room. The decision to make Sunil Narine open the batting has done wonders for the KKR franchise as he not only has played effective cameos but has whacked the bowlers all around the park. The side though would badly miss the services of Phil Salt who has gone back to England for the national duty.
Gautam Gambhir on his smiling emotions
In an interview, Gautam Gambhir was asked if he smiles occasionally and hides his emotions, he doesn’t celebrate much whether a wicket goes down or team wins. He replies:
“I don’t know why my smile is such a big issue or topic of discussion. And if it is really such a big matter of discussion, I think all commentators should have understood by now that my smile is precious. I can’t give a smile to anyone just like that (smiles). You don’t get expensive things easily,”
“I have said this before also that people don’t come to watch me smile. People come to see KKR win. If KKR wins and I don’t have a smile on my face, you can assume that I am smiling,” Gautam Gambhir continued.
“I wish people would come to see me smiling. I think the fans will go home happy only if the team they support wins. So, it is our duty that we send them home happy. If they could go home happy watching me smile, then I would be smiling for three and a half hours. Unfortunately, that’s not the case,” he concluded.
Everyone feels that Gautam Gambhir will smile then only when Kolkata Knight Riders will lift the trophy on May 26. Hope so we get to see him smiling and enjoying his precious and memorable moments. KKR fans would be hoping that Gautam Gambhir brings back trophy after a long hiatus of 9 years.
