IND vs WI: “I Would Like To Dedicate The Ton To My Parents”- Yashasvi Jaiswal

Day 1 & 2 of the first test of the ongoing test series between the host West Indies and team India, witnessed a master of the Indian bowlers and the batters. While the bowlers wrapped up the Caribbean on a mere 150 run total, the batters took the West Indies bowlers tearing apart their bowling apart. While the skipper Rohit Sharma scored his 10th ton, second away from home, the debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal reached his maiden test 100 in his first test match. Yashasvi Jaiswal seemed in complete control of the knock. India managed a healthy lead in the innings of the match while reaching 312 for the loss of 2 wickets.

Yashasvi Jaiswal dedicates his maiden hundred to his parents.

After being selected for the WTC final against Australia in England but not getting a chance to play, Yashasvi Jaiswal got to open the innings along with Rohit Sharma. He replaced the in-form opener Shubman Gill after he opted to bat at number 3. Yashasvi Jaiswal took the opportunity with both hands and announced his arrival in International cricket scoring a magnificent hundred in his debut match. Yashasvi Jaiswal dedicated his innings to his parents and still remains unbeaten at 143.

Jaiswal thanks team management

Counting his maiden test century as an emotional knock, Yashasvi Jaiswal expressed gratitude towards the team management for his selection and for giving him the opportunity to open the innings.

In the post-day conference, Yashasvi Jaiswal said, “I think this is one of the emotional knocks for me, it’s difficult to get opportunities in the Indian team, I would like to thank everyone, the supporters, team management, and Rohit Bhai,”

He also added, “I love Test cricket, I like this challenge, I enjoy the situation when the ball swings and seams. We have worked hard on everything, I’ve just gone out to express myself.”

Yashasvi rewarded for performing in domestic cricket and IPL

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s selection in the Indian cricket team is a reward for him after he performed exceptionally well in the recent domestic cricket and IPL 2023. He was amongst the highest run scorer in IPL, with over 600 runs. Coming from a background where his fathers own a fruit stall, he hopes to do well in the future and make his parents proud.

“Was an emotional moment (on his century), was just proud of me, thankful for everyone, I would like to dedicate this to my parents, this is just a start and I want to do well going further,” said Yashasvi Jaiswal.
