A young Sri Lankan allrounder Dunith Wellalage who troubled India with his all-round performance emerged as the player of the match for his stunning performance against India. With the ball, Dunith Wellalage picked up five wickets, and he also contributed to his team with the bat. Unfortunately, his individual performance could not help his team. India made their way into the Asia Cup 2023 final with a stunning 41-run win against Sri Lanka in their Super 4 match.
Indian opener Rohit Sharma notched a half century for the team, and after left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage shone with the ball, he claimed a five-wicket haul to dismiss India for a total of just 213 on the turning track.
In the middle overs, the duo of Wellalage and Charith Asalanka caused problems, ultimately bowling out India in 49.1 overs. Rohit Sharma was on top, scoring 53 runs before a brief rain interruption stopped play, leaving just three overs remaining in India’s innings.
While giving chase to a small target of 213 runs, Sri Lanka never looked in control throughout their inning. India removed their top three very early in the game, and in the middle, the Indian spinner joined the attack and caused more problems with the bowl.
Kuldeep Yadav drilled through their batting, and at the end, India managed a comfortable victory of 41 runs after a little fight with the bat shown at the backend by de Silva.

During the post match presentation, Dunith Wellalage was disappointed to lose the match despite taking a 5 wicket haul and playing a decent knock. Dunith Wellalage was very delightful to watch while paying, and he also hails India for their complete team performance.
