Inching closer to the World Test Championship finals dream, India made a strong statement taking the series opener under their wings. Restricting Australia for their lowest-ever total (91 runs) on Indian soil, the hosts won by an inning and 132 runs.
Following the crumble, the Australian skipper Pat Cummins acknowledged that his team’s lack of bravery and proactivity in their approach led to their lopsided loss to India in the opening Test match at Nagpur on Saturday.
“There haven’t been many losses in that change room”- Cummins
Given that this was Australia’s second straight Test loss on the subcontinent by innings, Cummins seemed remarkably composed in the post-match conference where he told about not needing to change a lot.

Injury scar in the camp
The collapse began when the team fell for a low 177 runs in the first innings but apart from the batting fiasco, the Aussies seemed to miss their core members who are sitting out due to injuries.
Feeling the absence of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood with the new ball, Cummins had to take the charge despite his best could be seen during the middle overs. Starc who suffered a finger tendon is expected to make a return while Hazlewood and all-rounder Cameron Green could miss the upcoming encounter in Delhi as well.
