With the World Test Championships finals at stake, Rohit Sharma and management are put in a tough spot. Whether it will the experienced Suryakumar Yadav or youngster KS bharat and Ishan Kishan who gets to don the Test cap no. 304 the role would be clear , to take over the baton of India’s middle order alongside the experienced all-rounders.

The Proactive Approach

The host on a 15 series winning streak will see three of its red ball mainstays missing the the test due to injuries . former Indian Head Coach Ravi Shastri was seen interacting with Star Sports and as asked about Suryakumar Yadav and made some interesting comments on him.

“Suryakumar Yadav might get the opportunity in that Test match. And he’s going to play his natural game. I think he’s one player who will be proactive; looking to score all the time, looking to rotate the strike. So I think he will be very useful in that position. He might come and play a little cameo on a track that is spinning a lot, where a 30 or 40 could decide the fate of a game. And he can get it quickly and disrupt the opposition.” said Ravi Shastri

Ace against Australia

With his consistent exploits over the years Suryakumar Kumar has become a tempting option for the selectors irrespective of the format. The 32-year-old with an abundance of experience could be the point of difference for India with his counter attacking approach on the spinning wickets.

Having already proved his mettle in the white ball format at the international level, Suryakumar made his return to red-ball cricket in December preparing the probable test call-up, scoring two 90+ scores in two innings for Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.

The problem for injuries isn’t exclusive to the home side, after Cameron Green the visitors are set to miss the services of Josh Hazlewood in the first test beginning February 9.
