Rohit Sharma once again outshined with the bat and scored 57 runs against England. India are through to the finals and will face South Africa on June 29. Rohit Sharma kept the same approach in powerplay though the pitch was dry but his intent was clear. Rain spoiled the game once but after that India didn’t stop so they made 171. In return, England got wrapped up by 103 and got eliminated from the World Cup. Former Indian batter now turned commentator Aakash Chopra praises Rohit Sharma for his knock and also the approach that he kept throughout the World Cup. Aakash Chopra said:

“England were beaten up in Rohit Sharma’s laundry this time. He cleaned them up properly and the Indian team shone. We haven’t lost even one game and have reached the final. England were shown the road home,” he said.

“England won the toss and opted to bowl first and I was elated that they had done a great job because I felt if the Indian team reached 130-140, they would win, and if they reached 155, it would be 15-20 runs extra, and India reached 171. Then they defeated the opposing team by a huge margin. Who started it – Rohit Sharma,” Chopra observed.

“Just think about it, the first match against Ireland, he scored a fifty there as well. Then the last match against Australia, he scored 92 runs there, how well he hit. If he hadn’t scored those many runs, we couldn’t have beaten Australia, although it wouldn’t have mattered to us as we would have finished No. 1 but we might have faced Australia in the final. Here he sent England home,” he added.

Rohit Sharma kept things simple and so the plans that he executed were targeted on-point. While commencing the World Cup Rohit was asked a question regarding the selection of four spinners but he kept himself mum and the result was seen on the ground. Let’s hope India will break the jinx and bring the trophy back home.
