ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Pakistan ends their campaign on a good note with a win against Ireland. Babar Azam and Co have failed to qualify for Super 8 and so they are knocked out of the tournament. Many people have started trolling and raising questions about whether Babar should continue as captain or not. Pakistan had a shameful loss against the USA which went up to super over later they lost to India while chasing 120 runs almost they won the match but Indian pacers snatched that victory from them.
Younis Khan wants Fakhar Zaman to be the next captain
Fakhar Zaman who is an experienced batter playing over the years has impacted Pakistan very important and so his contribution is valuable. In 2017, Champions Trophy India vs Pakistan Fakhar Zaman scored a ton and so Pakistan lifted the trophy. Being an experienced player and scoring runs in all formats always allows them to lead the team so it’s time now to bring some formations in Pakistan cricket after a forgetful journey in T20 World Cup 2024. Former Pakistan batter Younis Khan wants Fakhar Zaman to lead Pakistan for T20is since Babar Azam had failed to do his job and questions are raised on whether he should be continued or not. Younis Khan said:
“Why can’t Fakhar Zaman be the captain of the side isn’t he a performer? Didn’t he do well in the last 50-over World Cup? Who is that one player who gave us hope? Zaman started the 2023 World Cup in India poorly however, in the second half turned his form around which coincided with Pakistan’s success. His blistering starts at the top kept Pakistan in contention however, it was too little too late for them to go further in the tournament,” said Younis.
“Who is that one player in the side who is leaving his opening slot and batting down at four or five or six? Who is sacrificing his place? Fakhar Zaman! Why won’t you make him the captain?”
Pakistan Cricket needs to bring some changes or else the saga will continue as it is. Gary Kristen who joined as Head Coach for white ball format will surely think about it and maybe we can see change in the upcoming months.
