ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Bangladesh got knocked out of the tournament after a dramatic win over Afghanistan and so they qualified for the semi-final. Bangladesh had just 116 runs to chase in 12.1 overs so that they could qualify for the semi-finals. Bangladesh played very lethargic and so in the end they lost the match by 8 runs (DLS).

Bangladesh had lost both matches in Super 8 still they had a golden chance to qualify they refused to play with aggression so Afghanistan took advantage of the situation and qualified for the semis.

Tamim Iqbal slams Bangladesh team

Bangladesh’s senior player Tamim Iqbal slams Bangladesh for their giving up the match against Afghanistan. Despite losing 3 early wickets Litton Das was there on the other end but no one helped him to get the job done when the 12.1 over was surpassed they officially got knocked out of the tournament so they intended to take the game till the end and defeat Afghanistan but they had different plans when it came to know that Bangladesh would play the safe game so they showed their intent and picked wickets quickly and so won the match. Bangladesh has been disappointed a lot they made through to the Super 8 but lost every match. While slamming Tamim Iqbal said:

“Bangladesh will be very disappointed. I think Bangladesh should have gone for the chase, even if it meant getting bowled out for 70 or 80. They anyways went on to lose the match, but they had the opportunity to do something very special and this kind of opportunity does not come around very often, especially after not winning anything in the Super 8,” Tamim Iqbal said on ESPNCricinfo.

“In patches, Bangladesh looked like they were going for the chase, but then wickets fell and there was less intent in the batting in a few of the overs. Atleast if they had tried to chase it down and lost by 30-40 runs, people would have understood that there was an opportunity and we tried and we failed, but that is fine. Neither we won the game, and neither did we try to chase it down,” Tamim added.

Bangladesh had a very rollercoaster journey and couldn’t keep it consistent so they failed to win matches and were knocked out of the tournament in the end.
