Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam had a forgetful campaign in the T20 World Cup 2024. The team was not up to the mark so they were knocked out of the tournament. Many people have started trolling Babar Azam regarding his captaincy. Babar Azam scored just 133 runs and no half-centuries was scored so his performance raised questions about whether he is out of form or some pressure is roaming around the camp.

Virender Sehwag bangs Babar Azam

Babar Azam has surpassed Virat Kohli and become the highest run-getter in T20is but his batting form always remains a question he doesn’t play aggressively and his strike rate always stays between 125-130. The T20 format needs aggression and timing but Babar always slows down his innings and fails to convert big runs still he has three centuries but he doesn’t play like Virat Kohli as he brings aggression and a great amount of timing so he is the modern-day great player still everyone compares Babar Azam with Virat Kohli. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag bangs Babar Azam for his poor batting form, Virender Sehwag said:

“Babar Azam is not a player who will hit sixes. He only hits sixes when he is set and spinners are operating. I have never seen him using his feet to fast bowlers or hitting sixes over the covers; it’s not his game as he plays safe cricket by hitting on the ground. So, he consistently scores runs and his strike rate isn’t great,” he told Cricbuzz.

Virender Sehwag advises Babar Azam to review the campaign

Further Virender Sehwag also said that Babar Azam needs to review his campaign and check where they went wrong and what areas need to concentrate more so the win against Ireland was just a formality don’t consider it a comeback and most importantly batting at N03 is not the ideal position of Babar Azam as he always opens the innings but against Ireland, he came to bat at N03 which somehow don’t suit him. Virender Sehwag said:

“As a leader, you have to think whether this game is useful for his team. If not, then demote yourself and send someone who can play big shots in the six overs and get the team 50–60 runs. I may sound harsh, but if the captain changes, Babar doesn’t deserve a place in the T20 team. His performances are not as per the demands of today’s T20 cricket,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.
