ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 India qualified for the semis after dethroning Australia in a Super 8 clash. India completed their revenge successfully in the World Cup 2023 final and so Australia got knocked out of the World Cup. India will now face England in semi-final 2 which will be played at Guyana. Men in blue are ready to lift the ICC T20 World Cup and finish the drought of 12 years.
Virender Sehwag lauds Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma was on fire as he took charge of batting and smashed 50 in 19 balls fastest fifty in this World Cup. Virat Kohli lost his wicket quite early so it was Rohit’s responsibility to take the innings forward, but Rohit stole the show with his aggressive intent, he smashed 29 runs in an over against Mitchell Starc. Rohit Sharma scored 92 runs in 41 balls with 8 awestruck sixes and 7 fours, he was on the verge of his 6th T20I century which would have been very special for India and Rohit too. India posted a mammoth total of 205 which was quite much on St. Lucia’s pitch. In return, Australia was able to make 181 just because of Travis Head’s impressive innings. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag lauds Rohit Sharma for his bolstering innings against Australia. Virender Sehwag said:
“I have never seen better entertainment than this in this World Cup. I was expecting that he would be at the crease for just the first six overs. But he batted even after the powerplay, and look what he did. He made our hearts happy, what more do you want?”
Further Virender Sehwag also expressed that India should lift the trophy for Rahul Dravid:
“We played the 2011 World Cup for Sachin Tendulkar. So, this T20 World Cup can be for Rahul Dravid. At least as a coach, he gets to win the World Cup and get the badge of being a World Cup winner, which he didn’t get as a player.”
Virender Sehwag was tensed yet lauds Travis Head
While speaking he also expressed that Travis Head’s innings gave a heartbeat to everyone as he his the party spoiler for India’s last two ICC tournaments he was on the verge of creating a mess yet again but Jasprit Bumrah dismissed him still he played yet one more outstanding innings of 76 runs. Virender Sehwag said:
“It was an amazing innings. It was not just me, but the whole country’s heartbeat got faster when he was at the crease. One thing of his knock was the simple fashion in which he batted, whether it was in the powerplay or post that. He was easily hitting fours and sixes and was cruising. He didn’t get enough support from Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, and others.”
