ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 has been a fantastic World Cup bowlers have dominated completely and pitches have played a huge role in restructuring batters to score big runs. Seems like Sri Lanka hasn’t adapted or read the conditions well so they haven’t performed well in the tournament and they are eliminated from the tournament.

Mahesh Theekshana speaks on Sri Lanka’s disastrous campaign

2014 T20 World Cup champion Sri Lanka was eliminated from the tournament as they were unable to win a single match the match against Nepal was the most important but rain played spoilsport so they bid adieu to the tournament. Newly appointed skipper Wanindu Hasaranga failed in his captaincy so the team is out of the tournament. Some players played fairly while others were out of form so they couldn’t show up to the occasion. Sri Lanka’s leading spinner Maheesh Theekshana speaks on Sri Lanka’s flopped campaign he said:

“Everything went wrong this year. We didn’t bat well and we didn’t assess the conditions well and our plans, everything went wrong. And I think as a team right now, it’s not going to be easy for the next game but still, I think when we look at the last two games that we played, we didn’t play well. We didn’t play the best cricket that we had.

“So, I think we didn’t earn the spot – the way we played in the first two games. I don’t think we earned the spot for the Super 8 but still, we have one game left, so we’ll try to do our best.”

Sri Lanka has played like amateurs so they need to shape their players again which will help them gear up for the next ICC tournaments. Other teams have planned well and so they have achieved success which Sri Lanka has forgotten to do.
