Bangladesh is considered as most inconsistent team they haven’t qualified for any World Cup semis rounds and consistently their performance was not up to the mark. Though they have big players like Shakib Al Hasan only player who is the most senior after Mahmudullah.

Every ICC tournament they always bring question marks on their face and so they remain blank about what to do and how to perform. Shakib Al Hasan has the third most wickets in ICC tournaments but fails to perform on the big stage always. This ICC t20 World Cup 2024 they didn’t have a solid start yet they made it possible in the end and qualified for Super 8.

Robin Uthappa advises the Bangladesh team

Bangladesh team qualified for Super 8 but lost the match against Australia by 28 runs DLS method. In group stages, they performed decent yet there are many areas where they need to improve and most importantly they should know how the team is built without team building none of the matches can be conquered. In 2007 ODI World Cup was the only where they defeated India in the knockout match and qualified but since then they have neither qualified nor played like a team individual performances can’t judge the potential of the team, former Indian batter Robin Uthappa gives advice to the team that how they should plan strategies and play accordingly. Robin Uthappa said:

“In the army, everyone doesn’t really care about the bigger picture. Their first focus is their unit. That one unit, say the regiment. That one regiment. Their focus is that, no matter what is happening outside of this regiment, we won’t focus. We will give it a macroscopic point of view. But when it comes to our regiment and our unit, it is microscopic.”

“And we will not allow anyone to come into this unit. If they can build that kind of mindset where they protect themselves from the outside noise and focus and build convictions and beliefs within that group that make them and everyone inside that group believe that we are world champions,” he added.

Robin Uthappa expects Bangladesh to play like the 1983 Indian team

Further Robin Uthappa also says that Bangladesh should play tactfully and by keeping heads strong like Kapil Dev’s 1983 team who won the World Cup for India which didn’t expect anyone they beat the giant West Indies and proved wrong to the doubters none of them had thought that inexperienced and young Indian team would lift the World Cup. So Robin said:

“Even in the 1980s, when we first won the World Cup, only the team believed that we would win the World Cup. It was out of that conviction that they made everyone start believing in the team,”

“Now, Bangladesh has to do something like that and win a championship that makes people believe in it. Okay, this is a contending nation. That belief hasn’t come yet. And that has to start from within,”

“It’s not like they don’t have the potential. They do have the potential. The fast bowlers are there. There are some wily fast bowlers and medium pacers. They have some express fast bowlers too,”

If Bangladesh plays with such kind of energy and aggression then they can also defeat big teams. The rise of Afghanistan is speechless Their journey in 2023 World Cup was the most highlighted part and teams like Australia were on the verge of losing the match still they conquered the match with the help of Maxwell but at one stage Afghanistan had kept their hopes that they will win, so such kind of approach always helps and gives you positive results.
