India has kickstarted their World Cup campaign on the right note, winning all of their first 3 matches. Virat Kohli has continued to be a mainstay in the Indian team despite stepping down from his captaincy. Virat Kohli steadied the innings for India when their top order crumbled against the Australian pace attack and along with KL Rahul, took India to an easy victory at the end.

Ahead of their match on the 19th of October, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan came out with praises for India’s talismanic batsman. Shakib, playing his 5th ODI World Cup, went on to mark Virat Kohli as a special cricketer and the best batter of the modern era. Virat Kohli has scored more than 13000 runs in One-day Internationals scoring 47 hundreds and is the only player in the T20I format to have scored more than 4000 runs.

Virat Kohli already has two 50+ scores in the World Cup and would be eager to add more to his tally when India will play Bangladesh in Pune on Thursday.

Shakib-Al-Hasan showers praise on Virat Kohli

Shakib was having an interaction with the media ahead of Bangladesh’s clash against favorites India and cheekily referenced the fact that Virat has been dismissed by the allrounder 5 times previously in International cricket. Adding to it, the Bangladesh skipper also said that it would give him great pleasure if he manages to scalp the wicket of Kohli in the upcoming match.

Virat Kohli returned praises for his Bangladesh counterpart and called him an experienced cricketer and adept with the new ball. India has beaten Bangladesh in 3 of their previous meetings with the only loss coming in the 2007 edition, however, the Indian batter has refused to consider Bangladesh as a weak team, saying that there are no weak teams in a tournament like the World Cup.

The ongoing World Cup has been riled up by surprises with upsets being caused by teams like Afghanistan and Netherlands, making the scenarios wide open.
