England skipper Jos Buttler will have a steep challenge ahead of him as retaining the WC 2023 won’t be easy in Indian conditions. Jos Buttler would be aware of the fact that his side doesn’t have a promising record in ODIs since the 2019 ODI WC. Buttler will have to stick to one combination rather than frequently chopping and changing.

All eyes will be on the flamboyant all-rounder Ben Stokes who had a spectacular ODI series against New Zealand. Ben Stokes is a complete package that every team dreams to have. Head coach Matt Mott and skipper Jos Buttler would be considering promoting Moeen Ali up the order as he can be deadly against the spinners in the middle overs.

I haven’t heard anything about international retirement from anyone in our group- Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler was having an interaction with the Daily Mail. Buttler stated that the rumors of English players bidding adieu to the ODI format are not true. Jos Buttler pointed out that his team is focused on ODI WC 2023 and said that representing the nation is an exciting thing.

“I don’t know anyone’s intentions and I haven’t heard anything about international retirement from anyone in our group. I don’t think anyone’s thinking that at the moment because they’re focused on the team and playing well at the start of an exciting campaign. But there might be individuals after this World Cup who want to make this kind of decision,” said Jos Buttler.

“We don’t need to add pressure by saying this is the last dance or anything like that. We’re looking forward to the World Cup and we’ve got a really strong group of players. Any time you get to represent your country at a World Cup is very exciting and needs your full attention. You don’t want anyone thinking too far past it,” he added.

I still fell there are areas I want to improve and get better as a player- Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler made it clear that there are no plans of him taking retirement from any format. Jos Buttler stated that he may be 33 years old but he doesn’t feel that old yet. Jos Buttler pointed out that playing for the nation is a big thing and cannot be taken for granted.

“Hopefully, I will be playing for England a while longer yet. I know I’ve just ticked over to 33 but I don’t feel that old. I don’t think anything can quite replicate playing for your country. It’s a huge honor you don’t take for granted, but at the same time, I’m pretty calm,” said Jos Buttler.

“That’s where I’m at in my career. I’m excited for whatever is left. I still feel there are areas I want to improve and get better as a player, which is a nice place to be because it gives you desire and motivation,” he added.
