Indian Cricket team’s star pacer Mohammed Shami was in red-hot form in the semi-final clash against New Zealand. Mohammed Shami took a 7 wicket haul and was the pick of the bowlers on a belter of a track. Siraj had a rare off-day as the pacer was taken to the cleaners.

New Zealand cricket team would be crestfallen after a below-par performance against India. New Zealand’s bowlers couldn’t extract swing from the surface and we should also give credit to Rohit Sharma’s brigade who used their feet to disturb the batters’ rhythm & momentum.

I was waiting for my chances- Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami was having an interaction with the broadcasters post the match. Mohammed Shami stated that the idea was to pitch the ball up irrespective of the outcome as the pitch at Wankhede was no lesser than a batting paradise.

“I was waiting for my chances. I didn’t play a lot of white-ball cricket. My return started against New Zealand [in Dharamsala], We talk a lot of variations, but I still believe in pitching it up and getting wickets with the new ball. The focus was to try and take pace off, see if they’re hitting it in the air. It was a chance we had to take (with the variations).”

“The wicket was very good, lots of runs were scored in the afternoon. There was some fear of dew, the grass had been shaved off from the wicket. If dew was there, it skids on and there’s a chance runs could’ve been made. It feels amazing (this kind of performance). `The last two World Cups, we lost (in the semi-finals). Who knows when or if we’ll get a chance, so we wanted to do everything for this, one chance we didn’t want to let go,” he added
