All eyes would be on Shreyas Iyer & KL Rahul as the duo will have to be smart in the middle overs phase and avoid batting collapses. KL Rahul would be keen to make a statement that he is not done yet and perhaps needs to work on his strike rate a bit more.
Arshdeep Singh seems to be the best option for ODI WC 2023- Piyush Chawla
Piyush Chawla was having an interaction with Star Sports and was quite astounded that Arshdeep Singh missed on the ODI WC 2023 berth. Piyush Chawla pointed out that Arshdeep Singh could have provided the spark for the line up.
“If we don’t have the left-arm option, if we check the entire lot, Arshdeep seems to be the best option. However, if you compare Arshdeep with the three frontline fast bowlers we have picked, these three have a great track record and have a lot of experience,” said Piyush Chawla.
“You want to go with your most experienced bowlers to a tournament like the World Cup because when the pressure situation comes, it is not that easy to cope with it. So that is why I feel Arshdeep is not there here and the three extremely experienced frontline seamers are there,” he added.
India’s lethal bowling attack
The trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj & Jasprit Bumrah can wreck any batting line up on the given day. At the same time, if the management decides to go in with Shardul Thakur then the all-rounder can also provide runs at the back end of the innings which can be priceless.
Head coach Rahul Dravid & skipper Rohit Sharma would be considering using Hardik Pandya up the order against the spinners in the middle overs phase. Hardik over the last couple of years has shown that he can play the waiting game as well which is priceless in the modern cricket.
