Indian Cricket Team is the only side that is unbeaten in the championship and has been clinical in all the 3 departments of the game. The form of Shreyas Iyer is a concern for the side who has looked in two minds, whether to attack or defend. Shreyas Iyer perhaps needs to adopt a bit defensive approach while tackling the threat of short ball.

India will have to bring their “A” game against Sri Lanka on 2nd November as the island nation have a surprise element in them and they also have a glimmer of hope of qualifying for Semi Finals but they have to first beat India which won’t be an easy task by any means.

All eyes would be on the veteran all-rounder Angelo Matthews who came into the side as a replacement for Matheesha Pathirana but has made an impact with both bat & ball. It would be interesting to see whether the island nation can put up a fight after shockingly losing the match against Afghanistan in their previous match.

Nasser Hussain on short ball problems faced by Shreyas Iyer & former batters

Nasser Hussain was having an interaction with Star Sports. Nasser Hussain said that the short ball can be annoying at times while stating about the out of form batter Shreyas Iyer who has been the victim of short ball quite a few times. Nasser Hussain gave the example of former cricketers Suresh Raina & Steve Waugh and said that batters find a way out of their issue after working hard in nets.

“The worst one is the short ball because you know you’re going to get it every time. It started with the Test series in England. Word spreads very quickly you know that there is a vulnerability against it,” said Nasser Hussain.

“The more you play and the more you practice, some players get better at it. Suresh Raina when he first came in had issues against the short ball. He got better at it. Steve Waugh, whom I’ve played against so much, looked uncomfortable but we barely got him out in the end. He just got to work hard,” he added.
