Marnus Labuschagne has shown his worth in the first 2 ODIs of the South African ODI series. Marnus Labuschagne has made a statement that he is not done yet as the batter has shown that he can play the waiting game as well which is priceless in modern cricket.

Aussies have been on a roll and have been quite ruthless. The side is showing glimpses of the 2015 ODI WC side as this side too has got ‘n’ match winners present just like Australia had Watson, Faulkner & Johnson in the 2015 glorious triumph.

My thing is to play my cricket- Marnus Labuschagne

During the post-match presentation of 2nd ODI match between Australia and South Africa, Marnus Labuschagne stated that he doesn’t have his selection for ODI WC 2023 in his hands. Labuschagne made it very clear that if he doesn’t make it to ODI WC squad then he gets to see his daughter else plays the marquee ODI WC.

“It’s always nice, nice to score some runs and obviously to get this win. Yeah, I still think that I left a few runs there. I could have really opened up and get some more 30. But you have to be contented. Not just me, the boys out there,” said Marnus Labuschagne.

“The boys got a lightning start and even when we lost wickets, we managed to get up. It is not under my control [on World Cup non-selection]. I was having a word with Shamsi. My thing is to play my cricket. If I get to go home, I get to see my daughter, if I go to the World Cup, I get to play the World Cup,” he added.

Australia a strong contender for ODI WC 2023

Chief selector George Bailey would be considering including the star batter Marnus Labuschagne into the ODI WC 2023. But the question is whom does Labuschagne replaces as the side already has the likes of sturdy all-rounders in the form of Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell & Cameron Green.

It’s quite a headache for the CA’s selection panel as the side already has a lot of match winners present in the team. There have been talks going on that Mitchell Marsh would open the batting. All in all, the side looks a threatening unit who can dismantle the opposition on the given day. We should not forget that Aussies have the trio of Starc, Cummins & Hazlewood which can bury the opponent.
