The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup is underway and the nations are here to battle it out to be called the champions of the World. At the mid-way of the tournament, teams will know their strength and will now assess how to go about things to make it to the semi-finals. Bangladesh have been scratchy which has surprised everyone. Bangladesh skipper Shakib hasn’t been able to perform according to his credentials.

Bangladesh have not had a great World Cup so far, winning just 1 game out of the 5 played. With the World Cup played in the sub-continent, it was expected that the Bangla Tigers to have a much better performance than this.

The Netherlands would have always expected to have not such a great World Cup with the amount of competitive cricket they play, but have certainly impressed quite a few people with their performances thus far.

TEAM PREVIEW

BANGLADESH

After winning the first of their campaign Bangladesh would’ve hoped to get a few more wins under their belt. But with 4 losses in a row, their dream of making it to the top 4 might well and truly be over.

After losing the toss and being put into the field by the in-form South Africans, Bangladeshi bowlers were taken to the cleaners by the Batsmen. They conceded a mammoth 382 in their 50 overs, picking up just 5 wickets. All the bowlers were ripped apart as they didn’t have any answer to that batting performance.

Chasing the target of 383 runs would have required a miracle, which Bangladesh weren’t able to pull off. Getting bowled out for 233 in 46.1 overs was all that they could manage. However, there was a moment of joy for the tigers as Mahmudullah scored a brilliant 111 off 111 balls.

NETHERLANDS

The Netherlands were always going to be the underdogs in the World Cup. However, their performances have impressed quite a lot of people as they have been close in quite a few games but were blown away by the Aussies in the last one.

The Netherlands lost the toss and were put into the field first. The Dutch didn’t know what hit them as they were smoked for 399 runs in 50 overs. The bowlers had no answer to the onslaught and were batted out of the game in the first innings itself. Logan van Beek continued his impressive run picking up 4 wickets for 74 runs.

The batting department had to go all guns blazing in order to get anywhere close to the target. Sadly, they were bundled out for just 90 runs, losing the game by a whopping 308 runs. The batting department crumbled and will hope for a much better performance in their next game.
