The three-time World Cup winner Adam Gilchrist fancies the home team India’s chances to win the World Cup this year, which is set to roll from 0ctober 5. Adam Gilchrist pointed out that Shubman Gill can be the X factor for India in the marquee ODI WC 2023. Shubman Gill has been in prolific form in 2023 calendar year.
Adam Gilchrist believes that India’s squad for the World Cup is packed with many match-winners in every department. It would be interesting to see whether the management plays the flamboyant all-rounder Shardul Thakur in place of one of Shami or Siraj as Shardul can provide lusty blows at the back end of the innings.

Adam Gilchrist bet his money on the Indian team to do well in the World Cup, but there is one youngster whom Gilchrist believes to set the stage on fire that is the young Indian opener Shubman Gill. Adam Gilchrist was having an interaction with Sportstar and said that the Indian opener had a dream run in every format, this year especially in a one-day international, scoring over 1000 runs at an incredible average of 70 plus. Shubman Gill also scored a double hundred this year . The Australian opener hopes the 24-year-old will continue his juggernaut when the grand stage comes knocking.
“Shubman Gill Everything that he has done at the international level, in every format, continues to amaze me. He could possibly be one of the standout performers in the tournament. They have got a nice balance of experience, particularly Rohit and Virat. KL Rahul is an experienced player already, and there’s younger blood in and around that; it is a nice balance,” said Adam Gilchrist.
