Ravichandran Ashwin is unlikely to get a game against Bangladesh in the ODI WC 2023 clash on 19th October at Pune. The spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav & Ravindra Jadeja have been doing quite a commendable job with the ball in hand and playing a 3rd spinner in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin doesn’t fit well into schemes.

A win for India will take them close to the Semi Finals as of now India has 3 wins out of 3 in the ODI WC 2023. Head coach Rahul Dravid and the management would be keen to dictate terms in the marquee ODI WC 2023. Mohammed Shami can be an option and one of Shardul Thakur or  Mohammed Siraj could be rested for the contest.

The Spinners don’t work here at Pune in the IPL- Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra was seen speaking on his You Tube channel and was quite candid and said that there is no need to make any changes to the combination and include Ravichandran Ashwin into the setup. Aakash Chopra made it clear that Shardul Thakur is needed at No.8 position rather than having Mohammed Shami into the playing 11.

“Will India make a change? I don’t think they will make a change because according to me there is no chance at all to play an extra spinner here. Why would you play Ravichandran Ashwin here?,” said Aakash Chopra.

“The spinners don’t work here in the IPL and this is a World Cup match. Why would you play another spinner against a subcontinental team? So there won’t be any change in my opinion,” he stated.

“You can repeatedly discuss the scope for one change, whether Shami can play in place of Shardul, but that is also not going to happen, because India won’t do that. India need a batter at No. 8. It doesn’t matter whether you or I like it or not,” he added.
