ICC T20 World Cup 2024 : Axar Patel’s Outstanding Bowling Spell Creates Havoc Against England

Axar Patel was a stand-out player against England in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean. He delivered a proper all-round performance with crucial runs with the bat and a match-winning spell with the ball especially in the powerplay.

The conditions were such that the ball was spinning swiftly and remaining low, and the Indian spinners took full advantage of them. Given his first over during the powerplay, left-arm bowler Axar provided India with their most significant breakthrough when he tricked England captain Jos Buttler with his first ball on a reverse sweep.

The England team was defeated by spin as Axar, who took three vital wickets, found an adept companion in Kuldeep Yadav. Axar Patel’s outstanding performance in the second innings earned him the title of “Player of the Match.” In his four-over stint, he took three wickets at an economy rate of 5.80 for 23 runs.

Axar Patel Delivered When It Mattered The Most

Axar Patel spoke about his thoughts at a major tournament’s knockout phase. The Indian spinner disclosed that he bowled with the intention of bowling a really good first and last over. Axar Patel was able to put his philosophy into practice when he dismissed Jonny Bairstow with the opening ball of his over.

Axar Patel was brave enough to execute his skills in the powerplay and picked up crucial wickets after England had a decent start to their innings. Axar Patel also contributed with the bat by scoring 10 runs in 6 balls which could have been crucial if the match went down the wire. His figures of 3-19 proved out to the best fgures in the match.

Following his stellar performance on the field, Axar Patel was the subject of numerous amusing memes on Twitter, which coincidentally compared him to Mahatma Gandhi, one of India’s greatest liberation fighters. Axar deserves his long due credit in the Indian Team. He is a 3D player, he can bat, bowl and feidl really well.

He is a kind of player who can contribute in all 3 departments of the game just like Jadeja. Jadeja is more of a conventional left arm spinner and Axar is the one who relies on angles and pace in his variations.
