Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also started his career in the same year Lyon debuted. Ashwin has played 94 tests picking 489 wickets at an average of 23.65.
As Lyon reached to 500 wickets, Ashwin made a post on X to congratulate Nathan Lyon for his achievements. Ashwin wrote “8th bowler and only the 2nd off spinner in history to pick 500 test wickets,” He also congratulated Lyon for his achievement mentioning him as a GOAT.
“Really appreciated @ashwinravi99. Can’t wait to watch you hit the same milestone,” Nathan Lyon said in reply to Ashwin’s post on X congratulating him on reaching the milestone.
Lyon replied him with appreciation and wished him to reach to 500 wickets as soon as possible. Ashwin is already at 489 wickets, it should not take him more than 3-4 matches to reach to 500 wickets.
