The Veteran All-rounder Moeen Ali came out of retirement after fruitful discussions with Skipper Ben Stokes and Coach Brendon McCullum. Moeen Ali came to fill in or surrogate for the position of Jack Leach who is out due to a lower back stress fracture.
Moeen Ali withdrew from the India Test series in September 2021. He was asked to come back as England needed an experience off-spinner, and he sustains their faith as he bowled a peach of a delivery to dismiss Cameron Greens, he received applause from Harbhajan Singh and other cricket experts. Star spinner Moeen Ali bowled the most overs for England in the 1st innings.

Moeen Ali unfortunately is going through an injury, due to which he was unable to bowl in the second innings of the Test Series. Speaking to Sky Sports Cricket Michael Atherton and Naseer Hussain opened about Moeen’s performance against Australia:
“[Applying the spray] shows Moeen has got real issues with that spinning finger because he hasn’t been playing red-ball cricket. He is going to have a lot of bowling to do in this Test match and potentially the series,” said Michael Atherton.
“It is the whole debate about the difference between white-ball and Test cricket. Jonny Bairstow has not kept that much and we saw the sloppiness that happens after a day in the field. Moeen hasn’t bowled with a red Dukes ball for a long, long time,” said Nasser Hussain.
Moeen Ali was found guilty of applying drying agent to his bowling hand near the boundary line, he breached the ICC Code of Conduct thus he has to pay 25% of his match fees. Moeen breached Article 2.20 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
