Australia’s historic 2-wicket win has stunned everyone, Ricky Ponting and Naseer Hussain lauded Australia on their unwavering resilience and dedication displayed throughout the first Test of the Ashes 2023.  They believe the approach and method Australia came up with has withstood and worked.

The Skipper Pat Cummins carried Australia to a historic win in the first Test of the Ashes 2023 at Edgbaston on Tuesday 20th June 2023. Australia was in a critical position starring themselves down in a barrel at 227/8, the hopes started to be extinguished as Alex Carrey the only In-form Batter on the crease got out, all the burden was then on Skipper’s shoulders and he didn’t let disappoint anyone as he smacked 44 runs in 73 balls to take the Aussies for a memorable win at Edgbaston.

“England have got the most questions to answer..” – Ricky Ponting

Ricky Ponting opines that Ben Stokes and co. have to work on their approach and method, in order to win the series. He stated while talking to Sky Sports:

“I think England have got the most questions to answer. Their style of play: Is it going to hold up in an Ashes series? By no means am I saying that England’s method is wrong, I have loved watching them play, but it just goes to show there is more than one way to skin a cat. This is a long and hard game. Australia’s method has stood up and it has worked.” said Ricky Ponting.

The Former England Captain Nasser Hussain also claims, that England does not need ‘Bazball’ approach to win the test series. He Stated while talking to Sky Sports:

“You can’t hide behind that [wanting to entertain], and I can almost read Ricky Ponting’s mind because he’s a winner. England lost [the final Test] in New Zealand as well, if you remember. Remember, we’ve beaten Australia in England since 2001 playing the old-fashioned way – we didn’t need ‘Bazball’ to beat Australia. I want this series to be played the same way and I know Ben and Brendon will play the same way, which adds even more to next week.” said Nasser Hussain

England’s declaration at 393/8 has incited retaliation, as Joe Root was In-Form and has smacked 118 runs in the first innings thus they could have added more runs on the board. Root, who recorded an undefeated 118 in the initial innings, emerged as the highest scorer for the home team once again in the subsequent innings, contributing 46 runs.

The Second Test of The Ashes 2023, will begin from 28th June at Lord’s.
