ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 was the showdown in Florida and it was Pakistan vs Ireland. Pakistan beats Ireland by 3wickets while chasing 107 runs. Both teams were knocked out of the tournament so this match was just for their reputations so it was Pakistan who ended their campaign on the winning side and will come back stronger in the T20 World Cup.
Pakistan dismantled Ireland’s batters, but Delany and Joshua stabilized
After two days of heavy rain in Florida finally, the spectators got a chance to witness a game of cricket and it was Pakistan vs Ireland. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first, Pakistan attacked Ireland’s batters from the first over itself Shaheen Afridi dropped first blood for Pakistan in the first over, but one brought two so it was a double-wicket over, and later it continued as Ireland lost 5 wickets within powerplay itself which raised the concern for them. Since wickets were falling continuously Delany stood and took the innings forward later Joshua Little also joined the party. Delany scored 31 runs while Joshua scored 22 runs which helped Ireland to register 106 runs onboard.
Brilliant day for Pakistan bowlers
Pakistan had a disastrous World Cup but ended its campaign on a happy note. Winning the toss was an advantage for bowlers they dismantled the whole Ireland batting line-up and everyone contributed well, Shaheen Afridi and Imad Wasim picked 3 wickets and Amir picked 2 wickets. One match will boost their morale and will have a great comeback again.
Pakistan pulled off from the jaws of defeat
After a brilliant performance by bowlers, it’s time for batsmen to chase down the target. Saim Ayub and Mohammed Rizwan had a good start but as soon as Saim Ayub lost his wicket a streak of wickets suddenly started and felt like Pakistan was going away from the game as Ireland had a great comeback after picking a couple of wickets but skipper Babar Azam was the last hope he stood till last and took the game forward. A small partnership between Babar and Abbas Afridi brought Pakistan back once again but when Abbas lost his wicket again Pakistan was on the back foot hopefully Shaheen Afridi didn’t waste time and smashed two sixes and won the match for Pakistan, the game was filled with suspense and drama but finally, Pakistan pulled off the heist. Shaheen Afridi was adjourned as Man Of the Match.
Unlucky Ireland bowlers
After a forgetful batting all hopes were with the bowlers they adhered to their words but unfortunately, they remained on the losing side. While defending 107 runs Ireland’s bowlers had almost snatched the victory from Pakistan but Shaheen Afridi ended the match with two great sixes. Barry McCarthy picked 3 wickets while Curtis Campher picked 2 wickets. Ireland had almost made the match but cricket is such a game where luck and the result can’t be predicted. Ireland ends their campaign on a losing note.
