Ireland Women vs Sri Lanka Women ODI series finally came to an end and Ireland Women won the series by 3-2, a shocking defeat Ireland faced in the last match however they clinched the series in the last match itself. Sri Lanka Women won the match by 8 wickets,

Sri Lanka women won the toss and opted to bowl first which turned out to be the right and so Ireland women’s were thrashed like nothing and none of the batters were able to score big which cost them very badly in the end, openers flopped, middle order too faced nightmare while batting, only Arlene Kelly was able to score 35 runs which was the highest score in the whole line-up. In the end, Ireland was able to score just 122 runs and lost all wickets.

Chamari Athapaththu and Achini Kulasuriya made the day for Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka had lost the series but they wanted to end the series on a high note, so their decision to bowl first turned out to be lucky. Consistent Chamari Athapaththu and Achini Kulasuriya picked 3 wickets each while Sachini Nisansala picked 2 wickets and Priyadharshini and Ama Kanchana picked 1 wicket each, tight bowling performance was seen by Sri Lankan women’s.

So the target was not difficult to chase and the Sri Lanka women gave a solid start however Vishmi Gunaratne lost her wicket after a slow start from her side, but Ms. Consistent Chamari Athapaththu stood from one end and took the game forward later Chamari also lost her wicket, unfortunately, she couldn’t score half-century later Harshita Madavi and Kavisha Dilhari finished the game very easily and won the match within 23rd over. Chamari Athapaththu was adjourned as Player Of the Match and Arlene Kelly as Player Of the Series.

Not an ideal day for Ireland Women

Ireland women had a disastrous day first they faced hurdles while batting and also bowlers couldn’t hold there nerves which in the end they lost the match though they had dominated the series and won 3 matches straight in a row, but couldn’t make it as 4-1. Every bowler failed to make the day happening only 2 wickets were able to pick by them, Ava Canning and Freya Sargent picked 1 wicket each.
