ICC T20 WC 2026: Shivam Dube’s All-Round Show Helps India Stay Unbeaten

Shivam Dube stood up with bat and ball as India scraped past Netherlands by 17 runs to stay unbeaten in their campaign and win 4 matches out of 4 games. Shivam Dube was a man possessed and he rescued India from a tricky situation with his sparkling 66 while Hardik Pandya chipped in as well as India went from 119/4 in 15 overs to 193/6 in 20 overs. Aryan Dutt bowled well for the Dutch while Logan van Beek picked up 3 wickets as well.

In the chase, the Dutch gave a scare as all got starts but could not convert that into something big. Varun Chakaravarthy picked up 3 wickets while Shivam Dube chipped in with 2 wickets and others chipped in as India did well to keep the Dutch down to 176/7 in 20 overs. India winning the game by 17 runs to top Group A.

Shivam Dube’s masterful 66 helps India post 193/6

Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Abhishek Sharma and keeper batter Ishan Kishan opened the batting for India while Aryan Dutt opened the bowling for the Netherlands. Aryan and Dutch got off to a great start as they dismissed Abhishek for a bronze duck as it was 3 ducks in 3 innings for Abhishek. Tilak Varma came out to bat at 3. Ishan and Tilak tried to forge a partnership of some note.

Tilak hit some boundaries and Ishan was playing his shots as well. The duo added 39 runs for the second wicket before Ishan fell for a quickfire 18 off 7 balls with 2 fours and one six to his name to Aryan Dutt by playing the ball to the stumps. Suryakumar Yadav the captain came out to bat next with India in a spot of bother. Tilak Varma and Surya started to forge a partnership. India were 51/2 in 6 overs of powerplay.

The duo of Tilak and Surya added 30 runs for the 3rd wicket before Tilak fell for 31 off 27 balls with 3 fours and one six to his name to Logan van Beek as Roelof took a brilliant catch. India were 69/3 in 9 overs. Shivam Dube came out to bat next. Surya was playing circumspectly but Dube was on the move after taking time for the initial balls. Surya was not at his best but he hung in there for the Indians and built a partnership with Dube.

They played through the middle phase and put on 41 runs for the 4th wicket before the captain fell for 34 off 28 balls with 2 fours and one six to his name to Kyle Klein. Hardik Pandya came to the crease to join Dube with the score at 110/4 in 13.3 overs. India reached 119/4 in 15 overs. But what followed was the Shivam Dube show. Hardik too struggled to time the ball but Dube was clean hitting the ball into the stands.

Dube changed gears post the 15th over and changed the game as some big overs for India followed. Overs of 20, 21 became the norm for the Indians as Hardik towards the end joined the party by striking some lusty blows. But it was all about Shivam Dube who scored a half century and went beyond as well. The duo put on 76 runs for the 5th wicket before Dube finally fell for a magnificent 66 off 31 balls with 4 fours and 6 sixes to his name.

Rinku Singh came to the middle with 4 balls left in the innings. Rinku launched a maximum into the stands. Rinku and Hardik added 7 runs off the last 4 balls before Hardik fell off the last ball of the innings for a well-made 30 off 21 balls with 3 sixes to his name as van Beek had two in the over. Rinku remained unbeaten on 6 off 3 balls with one six to his name as India finished with 193/6 in 20 overs. 8 extras given by the fielding side.

It was a tough outing for the Dutch bowlers. Aryan Dutt finished with 2/19 in 4 overs. Logan van Beek finished with 3/56 in 4 overs. Kyle Klein finished with 1/38 in 4 overs. Colin Ackermann finished with 0/36 in 3 overs. Bas de Leede finished with 0/28 in 4 overs. Roelof van der Merwe finished with 0/15 in 1 over. So, this meant the target for the Dutch was 194 runs to win off 20 overs.

Varun Chakaravarthy’s 3/14 keeps Netherlands down to 176/7

Chasing 194 runs for the win, Michael Levitt and Max O’Dowd came out to open for the Netherlands while Arshdeep Singh had ball in hand for India. Netherlands got off to a careful start. It was not a rollicking start but a stable steady start. They put on 35 for the first wicket before Max O’Dowd fell for 20 off 18 balls with 2 fours and one six to his name to Varun Chakaravarthy. Bas de Leede came out to bat next. The powerplay score was 36/1 in 6 overs at the end of the powerplay.

The duo carried on with the batting as 16 runs were added to the tally before the other opener Michael Levitt fell for 24 off 23 balls with 4 fours to his name. Colin Ackermann came out to bat next to join de Leede in the middle. The duo tried to forge a partnership as they put on 43 runs for the 3rd wicket before Ackermann fell for 23 off 15 balls with one four and two sixes to his name to Varun Chakaravarthy. Aryan Dutt came out to bat next and he fell first ball to Varun for a golden duck. Scott Edwards came and negotiated the hat-trick ball.

Bas de Leede and Edwards tried to build up another partnership and they added 18 runs for the 5th wicket before de Leede fell for 33 off 23 balls with 3 fours and one six to his name as Shivam Dube picked up a wicket. Zach Lion Cachet came out to bat next. Edwards and Cachet added another 13 runs to the tally before the captain Edwards fell for 15 off 10 balls with 2 fours to his name.

Noah Croes came out to bat next. Cachet and Croes then started to build a partnership and took the game to India and gave them a minor scare. The duo put on 47 runs for the 7th wicket before Cachet fell for 26 off 16 balls with one four and one six to his name to Dube. Logan van Beek came out to bat next. Logan managed to get a boundary away as 4 runs were added to the tally.

Croes was unbeaten on 25 off 12 balls with 5 fours to his name while Logan van Beek was unbeaten on 4 off 2 balls with a boundary to his name. Netherlands finished with a respectable spirited 176/7 in 20 overs. 6 extras given by the fielding side.

Varun Chakaravarthy was the pick of the bowlers for India with figures of 3/14 in 3 overs. Jasprit Bumrah finished with 1/17 in 3 overs. Hardik Pandya finished with 1/40 in 3 overs. Shivam Dube chipped in with 2/35 in 3 overs. Arshdeep Singh bowled 3 overs for 22 runs. Washington Sundar finished with 0/36 in 4 overs. Abhishek Sharma bowled an over for 10 runs. So, India won by 17 runs to finish with 4 wins in 4 games. Shivam Dube was awarded the Player of the Match for his all-round performance.

What Lies Ahead. 

So, India finish their league stages campaign with a win as they finished with 3 wins in 3 games. Netherlands go home with 1 win in 4 games. We have to finish the group stage matches now and we have the final triple header coming our way tomorrow. First-up it’s going to be West Indies vs Italy in a Group C game at Eden Gardens in Kolkata from 11 AM IST. This will be followed by Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe in a Group B live from R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo from 3 PM IST. The third game of the day is a Group D fame where Afghanistan will face Canada in Chennai at 7 PM IST.
